--WARNING! SPOILERS! IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE EPISODE "A GOOD MAN GOES TO WAR DO NOT READ FUTHER!--

So, in the current season of Doctor Who, I like that Rory's being given moments to step up and show that he's not just a "tin dog" like Mickey was. This kind of came to a head in the episode "A Good Man Goes to War", where he ran around the universe, in his Roman gear, being bad-ass and getting ready to go to war with The Doctor against the people that had Amy.

I really liked this scene, so I did a quick drawing of it.

I... Well, when season five started I was miffed at every character and set in the "Tennant is best" mindset (still am, but less so). This disregard and dislike of characters went doubly so for the annoying, naive, useless Rory who only seemed to disrupt the plot and add unneeded tension.
However, as I watched I saw something new in Doctor Who, legitimate character development. Rory grew, matured, and developed to this new life and his role in it. He became an anchoring stone holding The Doctor back, as Donna had once said was necessary, and being a protective force for both The Doctor and for Amy. Rory slowly, but surely, became more and more confident, more and more experienced and soon... became my favorite Doctor Who character.

Bravo, you captured him well.
