24-Hour Comics Day is an event held around the world which challenges writers and artists to create a full 24-page comic in 24 consecutive hours. Thousands of artists take the 24-Hour Comics Day Challenge every year!

Last year, I hosted the event at Pulp Fiction, and Mike (the owner) has been gracious enough to offer up his shop AGAIN for a 24hr Comic Book Day event (he clearly didn't learn his lesson last time)! Last year's event went pretty well. Everyone had fun and was VERY respectful of the shop, and we're hoping for a similar turn-out this year despite the late start! Like last year, we'll go from noon-to-noon and see how many of us can finish a complete 24pg comic in the allotted time!

Like last year, we'll be linked up via webcam/Skype with the guys over at the Toonseum in Pittsburgh, and we'll have a public "hangout" set up through Google+ for everyone to check in and chat while we artists try to stay awake. Just click on the link below to go to the FB Event page to RSVP and get all the details! If you're in the LA/LB area and looking for a place to squat and get in on the 24 Hour Comics Day fun, come on by! The vent is open to anyone and, as long as there are seats left, anyone can join in!

So, when I let slip last month that I lost my means of gainful employment, my readers really stepped up and started buying stuff and ordering commissions off my website...which not only helped, but provided some much-needed moral support, for which I'm very grateful. A few of you here on DA have shown interest in me doing the same here, so I figured I'd give it a go.

2.5"x3.5" Bristol Sketch Card, full color: $5
5"x7" Bristol Sketch Card, full color: $10
Everything ships out protected. These sizes fit into envelopes I can just throw a stamp on, so no shipping cost.
Bigger than these, I'm sure we can work something out.

It's not a "One character costs..." thing. Whatever you want and think I can cram into one of these cards goes. It's always more fun that way...the shit I wind up drawing at conventions is a ridiculous amount of fun this way. These are also the prices I have at conventions.

Also, if anyone's going to be at SpringCon this weekend in Minnesota, I'll be there as well. Doing commissions and all that fun stuff with my buddies from Nightgig Studios. As soon as I know the table #, I'll throw it up here.

Hello, hello!
So, as my last journal entry proclaimed, I got engaged over the holidays! As we have spent the last month attempting to plan the coming nuptials, a realization dawned on us: neither of our families are in any position to help us.

Yes, I am paying for my wedding myself.

That's where you guys come in!
You can help me win $500 towards my wedding by doing the simplest of things: clicking a Facebook "like" button.
My comic has made it to the final round of's "Weekly Webcomic Rumble" and, if I win, I get $500! $500 is a nice chunk of change towards our wedding expenses. Also, I wouldn't mind winning the first contest on a site that I've been a part of since it's inception.

All you have to do is go to my webcomic, The Path and click the Facebook "Like" button under the latest page of the comic! Easy! Ideally, if you could do this M-F, that would be even better!

Thanks ahead of time for any help! Tell your friends!

Well, how the HELL are ya, DeviantArt?

Yeah, I don't have much more than that. I know, I know, I never post anymore. I never call. I don't send your flowers and candy like I used to.

Well, quite frankly, if you'd pretty yourself up every once in a while and stop randomly deleting deviations out of my gallery I might swing by every once in a while. Maybe even take you out. But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, you just sit on the couch eating Bon-bons and crying about your thighs!

But, yeah. I have a lot of people getting on my case for never updating over here anymore. It'd be great if I could blame the environment, Obama, or even transfats...but it's really just that I am that spectacular blend of lazy and busy that keeps me away. I'll try to get better. Probably.

In other news, two conventions in two weeks! Boy, is my liver tired! We had Long Beach Comic Con, followed up by Austin Comic Con this past weekend! Austin was, of course, awesome. I never have a bad time in Texas, and will go back to Austin ANY TIME! Seriously. Are you from Austin? Ask me to come down and I will. I freaking loved it there. I did upwards of 100 sketches for people, 10 5x7 full color drawings, and 8 18x5 full color drawings. It was a ton of fun, and everyone at the con was great. Everyone from the venue staff to the volunteers couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. Everyone involved in running the Artist Alley was insanely nice. Everyone I met IN the Artist Alley (the few times I got to get up from my table) was pretty damned cool. Bonus points for actually turning a profit at this one, too. Nothing like going home with a little cash after expenses are tallied up!

The only downside to the entire convention? Adam West's signature costs freaking $60!

So, yeah, I'll be seeing you again in march, Austin. Unless I suddenly find myself able to make it down for the con in January...but that's pushing my luck.

I'm not dead, only dreaming. Honest.

Actually, I've just been Uber-busy. With a capital "U".

Unfortunately, 90% of it's been with freelance work and not fun comic book stuff, or comic book stuff that isn't so much fun, or the current rebuilding of my website since the powers-that-be(the nice people at Outland Entertainment with whom I have a contract) have subtely hinted that it needs to be redone... a sentiment to which I wholeheartedly agree.

I am also currently working on continuitilizationizing(totally a real word) all three "The Path" titles into one amalglamated monster. The mobile comics (to be released this summer for you lucky iphone/smartphone users) will remain seperate website-wise, but will actually be canon as they'll explain certain things that there just isn't TIME to 'splain in the comic and help tie up loose they'll be worth reading!

Can I also get a big round of applause for my good (and very patient)friend :iconjojo-seames: (God, it's been so long, I hope that's still how you do icons) who did an AWESOME story for The Path LAST YEAR and has only in the last few minutes received payment? Totally my fault, Jojo. I clearly cannot be put in any kind of position requiring responsibility.

I should post some art here one of these days too, huh?
What the fuck is up with deviations from 5 years ago that only barely show boobies suddenly getting deleted for being "pornography"? Is DA still Sarah-Palin's-baby retarded about that?

I miss you, Ares. You were the best god of war ever.

So, I'm doing Long Beach Comic Con the first weekend of October, and I wanted to try something new.

The second day of the con, Oct. 3rd, just happens to be the same day as "24hr Comic Day", in which small press and indie comic creators get together in one place and each tries to crank out a full comic story in 24 hours. It's a really cool concept that I only ever seem to hear about happening in Pennsylvania through my buddy Barry. If I wasn't so far away, I'd probably wind up taking the trip there to take part. But I am, so I can't.

Well, I'm thinking of honoring the incredibly fun spirit of this venture and doing it myself AT THE CONVENTION. Except, instead of 24 hours, I'll only have about 8. So, I'll be at my table, letting other people sell my wares, and spend the entire day cranking out pages for a comic book story there on the spot. Each completed page will be placed in a portfolio right there on the table and people can come by and read the story in progress.

So, the convention if October 2-4 at the Long Beach Convention Center in...well...Long Beach, CA. I'll be at my table in the artist alley plugging away at pages all day Saturday, so come by and say hi! Or just come by to see if I even come close to finishing! Either way, it'll be interesting!

I may do the same thing the following weekend at Baltimore Comic Con if it goes well/is fun.

A deviation on my account from, like, three years ago just got deleted for being "pornographic"? Who the fuck is that big a douchebag to report a three-year-old image that, quite frankly, I don't really remember all that well to begin with?

Are we going to have to go through this bullshit AGAIN, DA?

Well, now it's going to be a nekkid-drawing shitstorm. Simply because this has annoyed me.

"WHERE THE FUCK HAVE YOU BEEN?!" Is something I've been hearing a lot of lately. Usually in frantic, angry tones on my voicemail, since I don't have internet.

Shit, was May REALLY the last time I posted anything here? Goddamn, time does fly when you're moving and have no internet with which to avail people of the knowledge that you are, in fact, moving.

So, I've moved. It was incredibly inconvenient, and the new neighborhood is less than favorable (despite a Taco Bell across the street), and it is a good hour away from anything I like to do and everyone I like to hang out with. WHY would I move, then, you may be asking? Well, because my roomies wanted to move and the notice they gave me was not sufficient to go find a place of my own with the meager savings I had left after a season of convention-hopping. Sure, they'd been talking about moving for a few months, but each time they spoke of it it was like a chain-smoker saying, "Yeah...this week I'm quitting." Every possible relocation was spoken like a pipe-dream and disappeared like a whisp of smoke so fast that I got to the point that I didn't think they were actually going to go through with it. I LIKED my old place. It took me two years to actually feel at home there. To surround myself with a few friends and a few bars that I enjoyed frequenting and settle into a decent pantomime of a productive life. NOW, when my girlfriend comes over, I have to leave my apartment complex to meet her where she parks and walk her in for fear of her being raped or mugged between the gate and my door. My now FOUR HOUR round trip commute to work isn't exactly a selling point for this new residence either. Nor are the creepy neighbors or the equally creepy staff of the complex. It's like I've stumbled upon a mexicanversion of Innsmouth (Go ahead, look it up. I'll wait.) and, while this prospect would normally be exciting to a Lovecraft fanatic like myself, it is less so when you're wondering if today is the day your fish-eyed neighbors make a move for your female friends when you're at work.

I don't know how long I'll be dealing with Casa Del Innmouth, though, as the little lady and I are talking about taking a giant leap towards wanting to murder eachother and move in together. Seeing as how between my place and hers we've pretty much been living together ANYWAYS, and we're sort of at the point where neither of us can sleep without the other around we're both pretty sold on the idea (even though another move may cause me to start hurling small children into the ocean). Plenty of other reasons, but we all know how I dislike talking in terms of hoo-mahn emotions and such.

For those of you waiting with bated breath for my opinion of Hellboy 2 (I'm looking at you, Havoks), I bloody loved it. I know there were a lot of nay-sayers and "Wah, it wasn't dark enough" or whatever, but I really liked it. The scene with Hellboy and Abe getting drunk and singing Barry Manilow ALONE was worth the ticket price.

By the time I get home from work, I SHOULD have 'net at the new place, so here's hoping. I sure would like to do things like post artwork here, and oh...I dunno...update my goddamn comic.

And that's that.

If you have not seen this movie yet, do so. You won't regret it.

I think it may be the most fun I've ever had watching a super-hero movie. I honestly enjoyed every single minute of it. Downey Jr. was PERFECT as Stark. The effects were awesome. The fights were cool. It was just a really good movie all around and I have no complaints.

What a great way to start the summer blockbuster season.
